Re: Exercise Discussion Thread - In memory of Jim Lavin

I love doing this neck exercise, it feels really good when I do them. It's quite easy to overdo it though, waking up with a stiff neck. I think the neck muscles are the most neglected muscles generally speaking, and the easiest to see results in.

That is also a good exercise Over The Mountain, a very effective exercise for the boxers neck is to put on a pair of soft gloves and simply hit yourself in the jaw and face area, start out with light taps and work up. Even the light taps can give whip lash like effect to the neck area. Wear a gum shield always as well.

The next exercise is similar to the preceding exercise, except that you have the head bent far forward and the hands are placed behind the head, resisting with the hands while moving the head backwards. you can use one hand, or both. do it until you feel the burn.

I use both hands on this exercise, with lots of tension. It's surprising how quickly these neck exercises work.

I am very careful with the amount of tension I put on my neck.

It's best to not use a lot of tension on those. Go for higher reps. Like 30 to 50.

It doesn't matter. It's good to remember Jim. On April 4th, Rich will have passed 5 years ago.
