Re: RPR's workout log

I like to see the "old" fitness/muscle tools making comebacks. I had a spring loaded chest expander in high school. I college a fellow on the hall I lived in had the (what we call today) Power Twister. Kettlebells are "sexy" again. And, well, the jump rope could replace a lot of $1000 treadmills if they were just used.

Anyway, have fun with that chest expander.

Re: RPR's workout log

I've been using the Lifeline chest expander for about 10 years now and I like it a lot, but I wanted to try a steel spring set again. There are plusses and minuses to everything. Many of the old school devices are still around because they work. I'm still kind of interested in Indian clubs. We had them when I was in grade school, but I hadn't seen them again until I was reading an old training book from the early 1900's. You can find them on line and then follow some of the courses on the Sandow site. They are supposed to be great for strengthening and opening up your shoulders.

Re: RPR's workout log

I followed the Reg Park course for 90 days now and, like I usually do, shifted my workout to body weight using the Lifeline original Jungle Gym.

So Mon., Wed., Fri. I do 3 different super sets.

Push ups and assisted pull ups, 2 sets

Chest flies and body rows, 2 sets

Triceps extensions and curls, 2 sets

squats 25

On Tues., Th., Sat. it's my cardio/conditioning workout. I do lifeline's prison pyramid. It's 2 exercises that are done right after each other. The set reps go, 10, 9, 8, 7 etc. to 1. The exercises are the "log lift" followed by a squat-press. I use the R4 TNT cable.

That is followed by another pyramid using a chest press and lat pull down.

Don't feel bad Gary, it has taken me just about 2 years to get to this point since the hernias were taken care of.

Bob is legendary in his consistency. I wish I could say the same about myself.

Re: RPR's workout log

About 3 weeks ago I changed my routine again. Like always do every 3 months. I alternate days with the cables on M-W-F and bodyweight T-Th-Sat.

The cable workout is the Reg Park cable workout. I really like it. What can I say.

The body weight exercises are done with the Jungle Gym 1 set of push ups, assisted pull ups, chest flies, reverse flies, triceps extensions, curls and squats. As many as I can do.

I've also been going out for my evening 1 mile walks. Since I started I've managed to knock about 30 seconds off my time. I have a way to go to get to my past best times between 18 and 19 minutes. Right now I'm at 0:24:22 for a mile. A brisk pace, but I can do better.
