Re: RPR's workout log

Even though the surgeon explained it pretty clearly, I'm still going to do a search on it.

Re: RPR's workout log

thats a good idea. my wifes dr. was going to put her on insulin 7 or 8 years ago. i remembered an article in physical culture mag from about 70 years or so ago that told how drs. had put millions of people on insulin that simply needed to lose weight. my wife lost weight and her blood sugar numbers have been fine ever since.

Re: RPR's workout log

Going on line I found that infants are born with this and it can self heal. Women can also get it from pregnancy and it can be corrected with exercises.

vacuums held for 30 sec. and build up to where you can do it 10 times. the other is like a neck bridge where you lie on your back with knees up. Press your heels to the floor and lift your butt up. I've been doing vacuums sort of intuitively, but only doing 10 sec. holds. Last night I did 5 with 30 sec. holds. I'll add the bridging one today.

Thanks Gary. A lot of guys over 50 actually have this but they can't tell because they are carrying extra weight around the waist and can't see it.

A correction on the bridge type exercise. instead of going up like a neck bridge, you only lift your butt like a lower ab crunch. There is one other exercise along the same idea as a vacuum. You pull in your ab muscles, but only hold for a second and release. You build up to 100 with those.

ok and thanks. i have a bulge in front of my stomach and it has been there for along time. i had no idea what was going on. i could firm it up to high degree but it would not go away. it has been there for along time, so i guess it boils down to the fact that i got old too early in life. will work on it now. thanks for the good advice bob.

Age doesn't matter if your waist size got into the 50" range. That will cause it. The thing to do, which is easier said than done, is lose weight and do the corrective exercises. I make sure to do the vacuums, and the pull in & release one thoughout the day. I'm determined to beat it.

Re: RPR's workout log

With my father in the extended care center, where he started PT yesterday, I've had a chance to start to get caught up with work.

I'm proceeding with my regular workouts, except the only direct work I'm giving the abs is the corrective exercises. My core is feeling much better. My holds on the vacuums is up to 40 sec., I'll build up to 1 min.
