Going to Experiment Again

I have done yoga and the Bullworker, generally, over the last 6 months. Last March to October were often three Soloflex workouts a week. I do believe this friday I am going to start the Super Slow/Power of 10 workout, once a week. I am going to start light because I do not want to get to pained up after the workouts. That does not mean I might not supplement other workouts, particularly a Yoga stretch workout I have, but I am bored with my October to current program, so time to change.

Re: Going to Experiment Again

I start tomorrow. Light at easy at first. I will work my way from there. The problem with Super Slow, with home equipment is, it builds pretty good strength, and then I "strength" myself out of the equipment that I have. So, I am going to have to reconfigure my Soloflex to use the freeweights because I usually "hit" 60 lbs. dumbells for the flat bench pretty quick. I had a dip belt that I used for belt squats, but I cannot find that now.

Also, the mental aspect of working to a 10 second, static, hold at failure can be brutal. I have seen people put through workouts on Youtube that look more like Meideval torture.

So, I will wish me luck and keep you all updated.

Is it similar to the "Static Contraction" method Jon ?

Yes, it is. You can use static methods in the workouts. When my wife and I were using Nautilus machines she would use Max Pyramid Protocol training with the Superslow approach as well. I did not use it, because she is not strong enough to help me get the weight in position for the static hold.

I am pretty well versed in the Superslow (or whatever name it is being called) approach, as well as Static Contraction Training.

Well, I am girding up my loins this morning, for tonight. I wish I had one of those "old" Universal multi-gyms to do this on. I almost bought one once.

Re: Going to Experiment Again

Got it done last evening. Went light on the weights, used shock rings for the squat, and did not pass 120 seconds per exercise. In all about 15 minutes.

Started with squats, which I am going to change to leg press, then bench, lateral raise with five pound discs, military press, and then barbell curls.

Probably I will switch out bench with incline press.

I felt crippled last night, but not too bad today.

So, there we have it. Next week I will start recording weight used, time under load, etc.

My wife wants to start, but in that case, we will need to go to a local physical therapist who has Nautilus machines.
