Ric Drasin on Modern Bodybuidling

So I watch Ric Drasin quite a bit. He has some good insights on the modern bodybuilder, obesity, and the toll extreme exercise can take on the body. There is some language. But I watched this over the holiday and it caught my attention. He did this interview after the death of Rich Piana who was his friend, but took it to far.

So they're all doing drugs. Piana was getting too big, and died young. That seems to be the legacy of the Weiders. They ruined BBing as a sport. I hate hearing these others saying drugs are OK in moderation. Just sad, and bad.

I found his comments about obesity interestng. We think of the obese as being "fat". Yet, I had never thought of a 300 lbs. bodybuilder as being obese. I think he made a good point concerning that. Overweight, is overweight. I had seen Piana, on and off over the last couple of years, he was a train wreck. Drasin does a good good in trying, onhis show, to highlight bodybuilsing in the 60's and early 70's.

And yes, the Weiders, et. al. have ruined bodybuilding.

i didn't hear any bad language in the video. maybe i wasn't paying attention. i too found the comment about obesity interesting. i still think the atlas physique is the closest to ideal. i thought it funny the guy saying they look like a bunch of elephants wandering around in the gym.
