Robert Ryan had a career going in Hollywood and Broadway when he enlisted in the Marines in 1944. He served as a drill instructor at Camp Pendleton until the end of the war in 1945.

Carrol O'Connor tried to enlist in the Navy in 1941 but was rejected. He then went to the Merchant Marine Academy for a while, dropped out and became a merchant mariner and served through WW2 as a U.S. Merchant Marine.

Leslie Nielsen enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WW2, probably in 1944 and served to the end of the war. I can't find details though on where he served.

George Montgomery had a great career going in the movies, but enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and served through the war.
