Knee Bends
I can't but help wonder just exactly how many knee bends Charles Atlas did daily. in the gaines biography it states he did 50 daily. we know that atlas worked out twice a day, so was that 25 reps in the morning, and another 25 in the evening, for a daily total of 50? or did he only work them in 1 workout a day? we also know that he said do at least 2 sets of them, so did he divided the 50 reps, if only one workout a day, into 2 sets of 25, or if he did them twice a day, did he do 2 sets of 12.5 reps? in the course he says do 15, then rest and go at them again. and in the photo section he says to do at least 100 daily. did he mean do 50 in the morning and 50 in the evening? or 100 in the morning and skip the evening? and did he mean do 15 in the first set, and 35 in the second one, and do two workouts a day? if only one workout, did he mean do 15 in the first set, then 85 in the second one? or did he mean do 100 per set? or 50 per set? in the perpetual lesson he says do 35 in the first set, then do 2 more sets. I have to say his instructions on this exercise are clearly unclear. do any of you have the answer?

Re: Knee Bends
Their is a blurry line there seemingly. As far as Atlas himself I think he varies a good deal over the years in reps and such. Certain photos seem to bear that out as he goes from looking superb to looking almost average, although he was most certainly above that.

Re: Knee Bends
That was one thing about his course that always confused me. He would say something and later in the course he'd say something different. Not just with squats. I think that whatever he says in the continuous lesson is the way he did it.

Re: Knee Bends
That could well be the case.

Re: Knee Bends
I think that it is all true, because as we change so do our needs. So at the times of publication they were correct at that time. I think?

Re: Knee Bends
That sounds very plausible Ian.
