Tom Terrific

Tom Seaver has fallen victim to dementia. Dementia/Alzheimer's does not care if you are rich or poor, famous or not.

The reason you have not heard of him was due to my poor typing. This was suppose to say Tom Seaver. I imagine that would be prevalent in boxing as their are so many hits to the head.

We new who you meant. That is a shame. Only 74. I always will remember him as possibly the best pitcher of his generation, plus he new his legs were the epicenter of his success. He had powerful hips and legs. That breed is dying out. Now it is all about pitch count and bench press. Bert Blyleven, Nolan Ryan, Ron Guidry (although he was very slender) kept their legs in shape. I read once that Nolan Ryan would throw a complete game, go into the club house and then ride the exercycle for an hour. Don Sutton stated that today's pitchers a) do not run, and b) do not throw enough.

I can relate to what has happened to Tom Seaver. My mom had the same thing. My sister and I took care of her through the years she has it until her last year of life. At that point we had to put her in a home. A patient in that facility was a big impressive looking guy that lived in perhaps the nicest housing edition in our city. An impressive guy, very wealthy, and he had this horrible affliction as well.
