That is a good vid. Close to 20 years ago Cal had a state wide test that they promoted. If you have 4 apples and five people, how do you divide the apple equally? The best answer? You divide the apple, and give the rest to someone in need.

i'm in favor of abolishing public education, and replacing it with vouchers for parents to send their kids to private or home schools of their choices. along with prohibitions on the govt. telling them schools how to do their business, particularly on what their curriculum is. I think the education system in this country has failed beyond the ability to repair it under its current set up. "big" college needs to be busted up too. it's ridiculous how expensive college is these days, and how poor a job many of them are doing. what you see in the education system is liberalism at work.

College expenses will drop when a) useless majors are removed, b) federal student loans are tightened up. I paid mine back, but a high percentage are defaulted, and c) when people actually earn their way into college. A 2.5 out of high school and a 16 on your ACT should not qualifiy a person for 4 years. University standards should be higher.

Decades ago a person of questionable was not allowed to attend college. From the looks of things today that might not be a bad idea.

I do not knowhow accurate the statement was, but someone told me once most college students in the States would not be admitted to European colleges. I guess we can take that for what it is worth.

Their are many bright students in college here as we all know. At the same time we also realize their are many attending college that are as dumb as dirt. Therein lies the rub. That is like trying to turn a mule into a Kentucky Derby contender.

Young lady next door to us has a degree and failed to keep a job at Mcdonalds as a cleaner, she has been unemployed for over 5 years now.

employers are more interested in certifications in a trade than they are in a college degree, and also they're more interested in experience than they are in a college degree. and even more interested in experience plus a college degree. just a college degree isn't enough. anybody can get one of them. you can buy phony ones over the WEB, or you can make your own. you have to get a masters degree or better these days to equal what a bachelor's once stood for.
