Random Subjects And Discussion

The NFL has warned the state of Texas they could lose future Super Bowls being played in the Lone Star state due to a proposed restroom law. Apparently the league feels it has the right to dictate state laws. A league that was not very forthright in revealing the brain damage their players were having, a league that allowed no black players for a decade, a league with players that have a horrific amount of arrests, A league who has a history of owners known to be gamblers. Now they want to dictate state law to Texas. Millions of Texans as well as people in other states will be nauseated by this and their fan base will continue to shrink. I look forward to the day when the league will be pleading for their former fans to return. I suggest those running the NFL go to a certain department store for their restroom needs. They will feel right at home there with another dwindling customer base.

"Random Subjects And Discussion"

It is an awful thing to watch civility in its last stages. The very wicked will relish in their horrific behavior but their joy is going to be a short one in an eternal sense. The havoc they have caused, the misery they have brought to so many will catch up to them. A short victory on this planet will not be worth the high cost in their next life.

I have watched every Super Bowl since the first one on January 15th, 1967. I will not watch Super Bowl 51. It is not worth the misery to see a football game.

When I was young I read where in the 19th century the prediction was that professionalism would ruin sports. I loved to watch professional sports and I scoffed at that prediction. It does not take a penetrating search light to see they were correct and I was woefully wrong.

In 1950 the Los Angeles Rams signed (Deacon) Dan Towler to play for them. During his playing days Mr. Towler attended theology college while playing pro football. As he said, I was always tired. Mr. Towler gave up his football career to become a Methodist Minister.

I want to give a thank you to my forum friends for the past 10 years. In alphabetical order, Bob, Ian, Jon, and Myron. You have been remarkable friends and not one bad word has come from any of you. A remarkable record for this day and age. I appreciate each one of you so very much and my respect for each of you is immense.

Random Subjects And Discussion

I do not expect anyone to come to my blog but if by chance someone makes it here I want to welcome you. This is my first attempt at this and I confess I have no eloquence in my writing. My limits and shortcomings will be rapidly noticed by the reader. I welcome the opinions of others and will readily accept due criticism. My intent is to be polite and I will not engage in argument. My interests are many and I will list a few of them. I would appreciate the readers own thoughts and opinions on any subject I blog about here. A few of them are as follows:

Bible Study
History (A Very Wide Range)
Vintage Books
Vintage Magazines
Physical Culture and Bodybuilding
Classic Movies

This is a very small list of my interests.

My first "ramblings" will pertain to a subject I posted about several years ago on the forum I am a member of. It pertains to "Sunday Blue Laws." Decades ago most retailers and places of business were closed in many localities on Sunday. In such places Sunday was reserved as a day to attend Church and families to spend time together. I always considered that to be a fine idea. As the bread winner was at work during the week Sunday was the logical time for families to enjoy time together. The movie industry began trying to overthrow such laws and of course many retailers wanted the restrictions removed for obvious reasons. The expected results happened. Families began going their separate ways on Sunday and family time together began to erode. Along with other things this has taken its toll on family life. On hindsight would it have been better to keep the Sunday Blue Laws or would the family life began unraveling anyway?
